Welcome once again ... to a fun feature on Al Nye The Lawyer Guy and The Common Scold: "He Said, She Said," which will be simulcast on our two blogs. It's short. It's cryptic. And we hope you will enjoy it.
He Said: "Never mind the Sheffield mess. The real story is that even with the home plate umpire Greg Gibson solidly in his corner, the fabled Randy Johnson surrendered five runs on five hits, including three home runs, in seven innings – Steinbrenner paid how much for this guy? Red Sox 8, Evil Empire 5."
She Said: "What an ugly, strange night. Bad umping, bad tempers, bad fans. The actual baseball wasn't that bad, the teams evenly matched, but who would even notice given all the distractions. Randy pitched well, except for those three pitches. Bronson was awful, but Boston hit well enough that it didn't matter. (As usual, no Bosox/Yanks game starts until the 7th inning.) Another Yankee choke, (even reliable Ruben didn't deliver) but who really cares. If the umping had been good, who knows what would have happened to this game. At least the umps were equally bad to both teams, and at least Boston's security was fast and excellent. Enough Boston, bring on Baltimore........"
