U.S. Does All The Heavy Fighting -- Again
The Washington Post reports that once again U.S. forces had to come to the aid of Iraqi units who were involved in battles through Iraq with Mahdi Army fighters.
Recent new reports indicated that the latest offensive ordered by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki was a test of Iraqi strength and was being done with little U.S. assistance. Clearly that Iraqi strength is lacking and U.S. forces had to step in to assist them.
President Bush was still in his make-believe-world of the war. Says the Post:
As President Bush told an Ohio audience that Iraq was returning to "normalcy," administration officials in Washington held meetings to assess what appeared to be a rapidly deteriorating security situation in many parts of the country.
