Lieberman Maintains Chairmanship

The Washington Post reports that Senate Democrats have allowed Joe Lieberman to keep his chairmanship of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and retain his position as head of the subcommittee of the Armed Services Committee.

Says Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.): "Joe Lieberman is a Democrat. He's part of this caucus."

Hmmm. 

It seems to me that the (I-Conn.) designation belongs after Senator Lieverman’s name.  I always thought that meant he was registered as an Independent.

Oh, I know he used to be a Democrat.  I also know that he appeared on stage all over the county many, many times on behalf of Republican John McCain.

Sorry, Joe.  If I were a Democrat in the Senate, I’d have given you the boot.  Politics is rough business.  You knew what you were doing when you were out there campaigning for the other side.
