The only thing worse than a braggart, is one who backs it up. Well, New York trash talked all week about how they were going to embarrass the New England Patriots. Then, dam it, they went out and did it.
Let’s face it, the Pats just aren’t at the level they’ve been in past years. And contrary to what many New England fans believe, Tom Brady is not God.
Much has been made about the loss of key defensive players for the Pats through either retirement or trade. But none of that mattered on Sunday. In fact, the defense held the Jets to just 16 points — a good job.
It was the offense that couldn’t find the end zone.
The Pats looked okay going into halftime with a 9–3 lead. Even though New England missed getting touchdowns three times from within the 20–yard line, the feeling was that it was just a matter of time and that they’d open it up in the second half.
Never happened.
The Pats went scoreless in the second half. Although Brady was never sacked, he was hurried. The line has plenty of work to do in trying to give him a few more seconds to find open receivers. The running game still needs lots of work and there were way too many penalties and dropped passes.
But give the Jets their due — they talked trash and backed it up. Let’s see if the Pats can use this loss as motivation for next week.

This is definitely a confidence boost for the rookie Mark Sanchez, if the Jets keep up like this; they might be in the playoffs...I dont know who is capable of stopping them hands down.

Thanks for your comment. Even as a Pats fan, I have to admit that Sanchez
looked good -- at least in the second half. Pats fans are too used to
winning. The players are going to have to earn it every game.
