This is an exciting novel that delivers from the opening sequence. For Vince Flynn fans, this book provides a look-back at Mitch Rapp before he was a major CIA tough guy. I’ve only read one other book by Flynn, so I wasn’t all wrapped up in knowing about Rapp’s present day superhero status and could read this pretty much as a stand alone book.
The novel begins with Rapp’s recruitment into the CIA after he loses his girlfriend in the Pan Am Lockerbie terrorist attack. The training is a fascinating account of his competition with half a dozen other applicants (SEALS, marines, rangers, etc.) to become an assassin who can operate independently from the CIA. The initial meeting and sparring with the seasoned CIA operative, Stan Hurley, was worth the price of the book.
Once Rapp is chosen, he then goes to work throughout the world leaving dead terrorists and other bad guys in
Whether or not you’ve read any other Flynn novels, this one just might get you hooked.
