If you’re a
Spencer accepts a job to provide protection for an art scholar who is paying a ransom in exchange for the return of a painting. Spencer both fails to protect his client and is unable to recover the painting. Not liking to be one-upped by anyone, Spencer digs and digs into the murder and art theft until a suspect emerges.
Soon hit men are out to get Spencer and something nasty is waiting for him at his apartment. As he gets closer to the truth, the bad guys try harder to kill him. It’s a predictable plot sequence but one that never tires with Parker’s deft style.
Painted Ladies will satisfy even a casual Spencer fan. It’s a joy to read.
